I've had several dear friends contact me through the last weeks, checking up on David and my recovery from Covid. We feel so humbled and blessed for all the literally hundreds of people that prayed for us and have reached out to us. People always ask, "Are you all recovered?" And I do reply, "yes thankfully....." But yet, there is more. Two friends asked me today if I am keeping this private and no, I'm not a really private person. When I am going through happy or sad, I want to know my tribe is with me. And I want to be with them, or you, whatever is happening in your life. I mean that. So, the week after our return from the hospital, I was diagnosed with a blood cancer- Waldenstrom. It is rare (of course- I love things that are unique...lol), usually affects older caucasian men (I immediately texted my only brother with basically, "So, what's up with this???)- treatable but not curable. As you can imagine, my emotions are on a bit of a rollercoaster- yet my heart is filled with gratitude for being in a good place spiritually and emotionally- I have a wonderful husband that has my back, children that would do anything for me- and have- literally a tribe of people to buoyed me up! Right now we have to decide between chemo or a targeted drug. I'm not sure my one lung is up for chemo right now- that might be a choice down the road. Until then, life goes on. Thank all you dear people for being you in my life. It's a great life. This week during scripture study- I read in Isaiah 43 (paraphrased)- Fear not, for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee, and through rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee...Fear not; for I am with thee." That is such a great comfort and a strength. I am a total believer of "Thy will be done" and I'm good with that!
From Brandi-
My sweet mama was diagnosed with a Non Hodgkins B Cell lymphoma called Waldenstroms Macroglobulinemia - a rare blood cancer just a week after coming home from the hospital with Covid. This past month has consisted of a lot of tests, waiting, and praying. We have been so grateful for the many tender mercies we have seen and felt. The virus itself exacerbated her low blood counts allowing us to get in to the hematologist and oncologist soo much sooner
Treatments are rough, but we are grateful to have some treatment options! I have had a lengthy recovery from a hip surgery this past December, as a result I haven’t been working and instead have had the privilege to help my parents and spend a lot more time with them - what a gift!! So grateful for all the tender mercies, but especially for my two amazing parents!
