I thought that after Youth Conference and the 4th of July celebration, my life would calm down. It hasn't. I've been working on several projects, enjoying the kiddos, and trying to stay sane.
Last week, I hosted the girls to a mini-pamper Brooke shower (and pamper us as well.) She is delivering our 18th grand on Monday!!!! I took them (plus Mallorie) for pedi's because you can't go into delivery with crummy feet. (I do remember being in delivery with either Brandi or Tenille and the OB saying, while in the delivery, "Nice pedicure!" Ha!) I made little gift bags for our pedi time (the tag said "Getting Ready to Pop!") with chocolate/caramel popcorn to munch on and baby mints.
After pedi's- we headed for dinner at the Blue Lemon where we had dinner and played a little party game and Brooke got to open up darling girlie clothes. We had a GREAT time all together! Everyone won prizes and all were happy!

This has absolutely nothing to do with anything important but I want my posterity to know that it is the middle of July and I haven't mentioned my tomatoes at all! I am trying different soil combinations in the raised beds (added pumice, moss and vermiculite ) to see if they will do better. Last year I got huge plants and small tomatoes. Then I planted tomatoes in the greenhouse again. I usually get a great 1st crop and then it gets too hot for another. Then I added pots to my deck off my bedroom. These plants I have grown to love....I talk to them every day ...since I have to/get to water them daily or they droop. It is amazing to me the difference of daily water. I took a before and after picture of some of my plants...and showed them to my young women. I likened the daily water to the living water of Christ. We need it everyday or our spirit droops. Easier said than done. I'm in a drooping mode. A lot of things on my mind. Thankfully, God is patient. As always.

the difference between one day watering!
Back to the tomatoes, the Romas are doing beautifully. I think I have come up with the perfect summer meal. (I'm still doing butters....which is frustrating.) Tuna and crackers, my favorite new find- sugarless sweet pickles, then fresh tomatoes over fresh mozzarella with a balsamic glaze drizzled over the top. Oh my gosh, so yummy. Okay, enough about the tomatoes.

Last night Davide and I and Brandi and Doug went out on a date together. First to dinner, then to Sundance Resort to the Bluebird Cafe summer concert series. We went last year for the first time and we were anxious to share it. For this concert series, they have songwriters from the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville (the real cafe featured in the t.v. show Nashville)- and they come and perform and tell the stories of hit songs they have written. Last night we heard Tom Douglas- hits include Lady Antebellum's I Run to You, lots of Tim McGraw songs like Grown Men Don't Cry and Miranda Lambert's big hit, The House that Built Me.
Lori McKenna has written for Hunter Hayes (I Want Crazy) and her biggest hit is Girl Crush by Little Big Town. Tony Lane has written tons- including I Need You (Tim M./Faith Hill) and Hello World sung by Lady Antebellum and This Ain't No Love Song for Trace Adkins.
Just a fun, fun night with our kids. A beautiful night under the stairs and in the mountains with those I love...
Today David and I loaded up some things to take to Tanner and Brooke's storage. They've only been married for how long (6 years?) and we still have "stuff" here. lol. But, an extra treat (besides getting rid of more "stuff") was going to watch Peyton play t-ball. I forgot how funny it is to watch 4-year-olds trying to learn to play!!!! They run every which way, spend half their time throwing their gloves up in the air and chasing each other around or laying on the grass. It's a hoot. Love this little boy so much. I'll get quality time since the boys and Annee will come to us tomorrow and stay for a few days while Brooke is in the hospital.
Been working like crazy on a shower for a darling girl in our Ward. Invitations done and mostly mailed. Planning fun decorations....I love having something creative going on. And it's distracting.
So between everything, although wonderful things are happening, I'm also stressed out big time. I got a call from my brother and he had taken my mom in to the cardiologist on Wednesday to have them tell her that she has a heart valve that is deteriorating quickly from bad to worse and they need to do something soon. She couldn't survive open heart now but we're hoping that a procedure where they run a wire into the heart value and balloon it will work. Mom says not to worry.
Can I say I'm totally stressed.
Why is it that sometimes you are so stressed or drooping but you can't pick up the glass to drink?
C.S.Lewis said that grief is a lazy thing. He compared it to being cold in bed, shivering in fact...but unable to go and get another blanket to make it better.
