Lake Powell Finale

We had so many many memories again at Powell. This picture started us off. We were docking the houseboat- which is a huge job and takes lots of strength. Brooke looked out the door of the houseboat and said "There's Ben." We laughed and laughed. You see, Ben wasn't there yet. He didn't come until mid-week. Yet here were half our crew doing Ben's job! Just kidding, guys! It was wonderful to have Parker (home from college) and Josh (home from his mission) back with us again!
We had lots of crazy hair time- Sadie braiding everyone's hair (the boys!)
Windblown hair...
Water events- skiing, jet skiing, tubing, wake and knee boarding, paddleboards
Cousin time, crazy time,

wall to wall sleep time. Bizarre picture time.
Wonderful food time- recipe for Hawaiian Chicken Tacos on the cooking blog.

S'more Pie dip- we made a last minute decision since all the littles with sparklers about made me have a heart attack. Instead of kiddos roasting their own marshmallows in close quarters, we made "S'more Pie Dip." I had chocolate graham cracker crusts and we did a layer of Hershey's chocolate over that, then topped with marshmallows. We baked or broiled in the oven until the marshmallows were golden and the chocolate melted, then scooped up a serving in a bowl with additional graham crackers. Soooo good. Next time I'll do a thicker layer (2 layers) of chocolate bars.
Mishap time- there are really 3 bodies in this overturn. I'm not sure everyone made it out alive...
Almost!!!!
Game Time non-stop! And look at that treat buffet in the background. Non-stop grazing!!!!

My kiddos sent me David's dogglehanger look alike.
The event of the week though is summed up by this picture. I don't know what in the heck happened but our two bathroom toilets holding tanks filled up quickly! It must have been that non-stop snacking. David thought we could just ignore it. I don't think so. We then spent 3 HOURS at the pumping station (I won't mention that Tenille and Rylee were stuck on a beach holding our place the whole time thinking something horrible had happened- in HOT weather without any shade...) and couldn't get the tanks to pump. We thought there were issues with the pumping station
We had to go all the way back to the marina and use that pumping station. Of course, we get there when everyone is getting off work. The pumps again wouldn't work....
Brooke came to the rescue and badgered some worker to help us desperate people- come to find out both our tanks were plugged! Imagine that? Someone put something unacceptable down both toilets? What a surprise...(I spent the whole time at Powell lecturing and instructing the "peoples" about what was garbage, what was recycling plastic and what was recycling pop cans. Three choices. It went out one ear and out the other. I have learned that I've become invisible and mute.
Awards to David and all the fellas for the hours they spent unsuccessfully in the septic stations! David's face says it all! Party over!

Family Lake Powell Style
We should never wait until the last day before taking family pictures- after a week of wind and red sand and mud and water sports! Oh well, these are pictures of the people I love most on earth (minus a few)- and we are worn out by fun and sun!

Our Heaven on Earth
On earth there is no heaven, but there are pieces of it.
Jules Renard
We love this place- for many reasons- but it is the place of our best memories when the kids were young. Because of Covid and vacation, David has grown out his beard (I think he looks like Skipper from Fish and Chips!) but Travis has also. And he has some gray in his beard. Travis has always said he loved it whenever David grew out his beard because that meant we were having fun as a family!
Lake Powell is our memory maker. We love this beautiful unique spot in the world and the love we share when we are here!
The precise location of heaven on earth has never been established but it may very well be right here
