Two new recipes on the cooking blog. One is for a wonderful moist chocolate mayo cake and the other is an old family favorite (and in my food storage rotation)- Sausage Rice Casserole. Check them out if you are interested!

Summer Catching Up
A couple of weeks prior they went camping at Downata and Lava Hot Springs with friends. They floated on inner tubes on the river at Lava- and Addi did a great crash into a giant boulder mid-stream and cremated her leg and body.

Tanner and Brooke's new home finally got finished and there were a few days in the past weeks that were grueling for them and David and our family of movers. I just got to watch the littles for a couple of scattered days so my part was fun. And I also got to decorate the kids bathroom! Yeah! It was fun to have something fun to think about other than reality in my head! This is going to be a great house for them...as soon as the basement gets done. Yikes! They are still going to be in chaos for awhile yet!

The cutest thing Summer has said lately. She came clicking into the kitchen with my plastic princess heels from the toy closet. "Grandma," she said, "I really like these shoes. I would really like to take them home. You can yes or you can say no and I'm still be okay."
Ahhhh- guess if she took them home or not! (Below hair-do after swimming!)

It's crazy how bare a lot of the stores shelves are. We had a hard time finding shower curtains- and then I went to 6 stores before I could find the color of towels I was seeking. It turned out cute.

Making Room in the Margins
I loved this thought by Michelle D. Craig-
As I have been intentional about following the counsel of President Russell M. Nelson and seeking to hear the voice of the Lord, I have realized the importance of making time to actually listen for His voice, making time to be still. In quiet moments it is much easier to hear the whisperings of the Spirit.
At the beginning of the year I purchased a paperback copy of the Book of Mormon that has wide margins. I am writing down impressions, questions, and thoughts on each page—and I am learning much. I have a friend who once said that we need to create margins in our own lives in which God can write in our hearts and in our minds—margins of stillness and quiet. I love that analogy. Perhaps we can all be more intentional about carving out margins of quiet in our own lives where we can hear the voice of the Lord. #HearHim

Tiger Tiger!!!
We got a sweet surprise last night. Friend and neighbor (okay I couldn't walk to her house neighbor) Debbie Nelson brought me the sweetest gift ever. She had made a comment on Facebook about making Tiger Tiger ice cream- which I had never heard of. Apparently it is BIG in Canada and I have no idea why it isn't big in the US as well! I will post a recipe I found on the Internet- on my cooking blog- although I haven't made it in person (I think I have made every single recipe on my cooking blog!), I have TASTED it in person and it was love at first bite. Orange ice cream and black licorice caramel. Okay, I think I have lost half of you but honestly, it is amazing!!!
